Breaking: Devon Park Hosts 9,259 Fans for Bedlam
OKLAHOMA CITY — College softball reached a milestone moment on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, as No. 2 Oklahoma defeated No. 18 Oklahoma State in front of a record-breaking crowd of 9,259 fans at Devon Park. The game now holds the NCAA record for the largest attendance at a regular-season softball game, surpassing the previous mark of 8,930—also set in Oklahoma City during a 2023 matchup between Oklahoma and Texas.
This year’s Bedlam rivalry brought the passion, the firepower, and a game that fans will remember for years.
Oklahoma State Jumps Out Early
The Cowgirls capitalized on a pair of early defensive miscues by the Sooners in the top of the first inning. Two errors and a single brought in two runs to put Oklahoma State up 2-0. In the third inning, Rosie Davis added to the lead with a solo home run to right center, giving the Cowgirls a 3-0 advantage and briefly silencing the crimson-heavy crowd.
But from that moment forward, it was all Oklahoma.

Sooners Ignite a Comeback
In the bottom of the third, Maya Bland sparked the rally by drawing a leadoff walk. On the very next at-bat, Kasidi Pickering drilled a two-run homer to right field, cutting the deficit to 3-2 and lighting a fire in the Sooner dugout. The game’s momentum swung visibly, and the record crowd fed off every moment.
In the top of the fourth, Oklahoma State loaded the bases with no outs. But the Sooners escaped with no damage. Sam Landry fanned a batter, and Ailana Agbayani made a diving catch to steal extra bases before cleanly fielding a grounder to end the inning.

Five Runs and Full Control
The momentum carried into the bottom half of the fourth. Abigale Dayton and Agbayani each worked walks, setting the stage for Bland to deliver a crushing blow—a three-run home run to right center that gave Oklahoma a 5-3 lead. After two more base hits and a defensive error, the Sooners pushed the score to 7-3.
In the span of two innings, Oklahoma erased a three-run deficit and took full control.

Run-Rule Statement in the Fifth
Oklahoma sealed the win in the fifth with another outburst. Agbayani was hit by a pitch, stole second, and scored on a single by Hannah Coor. Pickering nearly hit her second homer of the night, settling for an RBI double off the top of the wall. Ella Parker followed with a double of her own, and Gabbie Garcia ended the night with a walk-off single, bringing the final score to 11-3 and triggering a run-rule finish.
The Sooners scored 11 unanswered runs and used the moment to put a stamp on the historic night.

Devon Park and a National Statement
Devon Park, home of the Women’s College World Series, proved once again why it’s the heart of college softball. Its ability to host top-tier events helped make this moment possible. Fans filled every corner of the stadium, waving crimson and orange, united by their love of the game.
This wasn’t just a Bedlam game. It was a milestone for the sport—proof that women’s athletics can set records, draw national attention, and inspire the next generation.
