Over the weekend we learned that Jayden Heavener, rated last year as the No. 2 overall prospect in the 2024 Extra Elite 100 rankings, will be moving to a new club team for her final year of play before heading to LSU next Fall.
Jayden told Extra Inning Softball earlier today:
“I really enjoyed the last two years with Unity and it was an amazing experience to play with such a talented group of athletes. I really appreciate what Coach Josh (Johnson) and Coach Jay (Ross) did for me.”
From Florida, Jayden was a star pitcher for the Unity club team based in Virginia which has won multiple top tournaments including several national championships. She’ll now be closer to home for her final year of club play and also get to be on the same team as one of her favorite catchers.

Jayden continued:
“I want to thank Coach Teo (Caymol) and Coach Mitch (Rood) for offering me the opportunity to finish my last year of travel playing and learning from Georgia Impact – Caymol 18U team.”
“I am even more excited to finish playing my last year with one of my favorite catchers, Tia Titi. She is amazing and only makes me better. I also had the opportunity to meet Erin Nuwer during the (PGF) All American games and she is so nice and a great right-handed pitcher. We will work well together.”
Last Summer the Impact – Caymol team won the PGF 16U Nationals and was looking for help in the circle heading into the 2022-2023 campaign. Adding Heavener will once again make the Georgia-based team one of the favorites in its age division, especially with such a dynamic righty-lefty combo.
On Saturday, Heavener saw one inning of work in the PGF Seniors All American Game and, in just 11 pitches, recorded two strikeouts and a pop out. Jayden would’ve had an at-bat, too, but her team didn’t get to play the bottom of the 7th.
The talented two-way lefty committed last September to LSU and has earned multiple national honors including 1st Team Extra Inning Softball All-American recognition and Florida Class 5A Pitcher of the Year at Pace High.
She has averaged over two K’s per inning much of career, both at the prep and club levels, but she’s also a .300-plus hitter with pop in her bat and the ability to hit double digit home runs.
