Grateful at the Plate: What Our Ranked Players Are Thankful For – 2028 Olivia Guarino
As part of Extra Inning Softball’s Thanksgiving series, we asked some of the top-ranked players what they’re most thankful for this season. Today, we’re featuring Olivia Guarino, a standout in the Class of 2028, who shared a heartfelt message about what matters most to her.
In her message, Guarino expressed gratitude for softball, saying, “Softball has shaped who I am and given me lifelong friendships with people who share my passion. It’s so much more than a sport—it’s a part of me.”
My name is Olivia Guarino. I am a 2028 catcher and currently play for Rip City USA 14U. I am incredibly grateful for softball for so many reasons. Softball has given me so much joy that goes far beyond the field. It challenges my athletic ability and mental toughness in moments like catching a high-pressure game or making a split-second decision on the field.
Through softball, I have traveled to states I would have never visited and met so many amazing people along the way. Sports teach valuable life skills, like how to work hard and be resilient. In the face of challenging games or situations, I’ve learned to stay focused, stay positive, cheer on and build up my teammates, and try my hardest regardless of the outcome.
Softball has given me lifelong friendships with people who share my passion, who I would have never met otherwise. Every coach I’ve had has taught me something that has made me stronger. Softball has allowed me to be a leader and to be myself.
The friendships built through shared wins and losses create bonds that can’t be matched. Ultimately, softball has shaped who I am, taught me valuable life lessons, and given me memories I’ll cherish forever. For that, I will always be grateful for the sport of softball.
It’s clear that Guarino cherishes the lifelong friendships and connections she’s made through softball, relationships that have become an integral part of her journey and success in the sport.
Currently ranked #100 in the Extra Elite 100 for the Class of 2028 Catchers, Guarino has made a name for herself with her impressive skills on the field. As a member of Rip City USA 14U, she’s shown that hard work and gratitude go hand in hand.
