SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State softball head coach Holly Hesse announced additional updates to her softball staff for the upcoming 2024 season.
Kasey Griffith has been promoted to associate head coach following her first season with the Bears, while Jess Weber is being elevated to the NCAA’s newly-approved third assistant coach on staff after serving as the volunteer assistant for the last two years.
Griffith will work primarily with the Bears’ hitters and infielders, in addition to taking over third base coaching responsibilities and implementing base running skills and strategies. She will also serve as the team’s recruiting coordinator, oversee the student-athletes’ academic progress and assume responsibility over all equipment and uniform needs among other duties.
Meanwhile, Weber has been assigned to work with the MSU outfielders while also assisting with hitting development and offensive strategies. Some of her other responsibilities will include making travel arrangements, scouting opponents, coordinating the preparation and maintenance of Killian Stadium and taking over home game management in conjunction with other MSU departments.
Hesse also recently announced the hiring of assistant coach Shelby Hiers on August 2.

MSU went 31-20 overall and 21-6 in the MVC in 2023 to finish second in the Valley regular season standings for the second consecutive season, while posting a perfect 15-0 record at home for the first time in program history. The Bears return 15 players from last year’s squad and welcome in six newcomers for the 2023-24 season.
