EXTRA SPOTLIGHT: PEYTON SOBBING

2025 C/3B Peyton Sobbing, who plays for Top Gun 07 National – Sciara, does not have a batting cage in her kitchen. Actually, she has a hitting tunnel and training area in her father’s workshop in the garage.
TLI was a bit confused after watching her training clips on Twitter. Where was the coffee machine? Where do you sit down and have your breakfast burrito with Sobbing constantly training? Here’s what she had to say…

Tell us about your travel team/organization and how you became involved with them…
I became involved with Top Gun a few years ago when I started going to the winter camps while I stayed with my Grandma in Kansas City. Earlier this year, I was invited to play with them in a tournament at the end of the summer 2021, which led to an invitation to join Top Gun 07 National – Sciara. I was excited and jumped to join the Top Gun organization. It has been quite the adjustment playing on a team that is three hours away.
Learning how to manage the travel along with school and building relationships with my teammates has been a challenge. But a challenge the Top Gun organization has supported me through and I am growing tremendously because of it.
Can you talk about your experience at Valley Center High?
This is my first year in the Valley Center school district after transferring from a small private school. I have enjoyed it so far. My freshman softball season is going well while playing JV and varsity. This will be my second year hitting from the left side of the plate and I feel like I have started to hit my stride during high school ball. We have a strong team, with several D1 commits that I look up to on and off the field. We are expected to compete at state in May.
While I have spent most of my years playing catcher and 3rd, it has been a good learning experience being pushed to play at different positions. When not catching, I have spent quite a bit of time at 2nd base. I have been happy with my growth this offseason and during the high school season. I am excited to see how that translates to travel ball.
It’s Game Day!!! I am prepared to succeed. Can’t wait to hit the field with my teammates! @VCSoftball @TGASciara @NewsMidwest @Los_Stuff @ExtraInningSB @IHartFastpitch pic.twitter.com/ggWealQmCi
