South Florida-committed MIF Karhys Pierce, #38 in the 2024 Extra Elite 100, recently talked to Extra Inning Softball about GA Bombers 18U Gold-Lewis, Ultimate Stomping Ground, footwork and opposite-field hitting, Alliance Nationals, Eastlake High, medical field, South Florida, her dad, Florida Georgia Line, “Grey’s Anatomy” and jeeps.

Honors: HS 7A ALL-State (2021); High School ALL-American by Extra Inning Softball; FACA District 14 Player of the Year 7A; #38 in the 2024 Extra Elite 100; and set Pinellas County record (53 hits) for a single-season.
Travel Ball Summer Stats: .430 AVG, 4 doubles, 3 triples, 2 HRs, 7 BBs and 15 RBIs.
High School Stats: Career — .549 AVG, .629 OBP, 78 hits, 48 RBIs, 62 runs and .942 fielding percentage.
Tell us about your travel team/organization and how you became involved with them? Started with the Tampa Mustangs in 10U, moved to the National Team with Tampa Mustangs-Seymour (and) now with Bombers (18U Gold-)Lewis.
What are some of your training methods/training routine? I work on fielding and hitting with Justin Byler every week. I train at Ultimate Stomping Ground with Bryant Tisdale twice a week. My dad works with me on the field 2-3 times each week.
What areas are you focusing on/trying to improve this fall? Working on footwork in the middle infield and opposite field work in hitting. Also strength and core training at USG.
Can you tell us about your experience at Alliance Nationals this summer? Alliance Nationals was a great experience. I played good Texas and Midwest teams in Indiana. I visited IU and Purdue, my grandparent’s alma mater. I went to a Zac Brown Band concert with some of my best friends/ teammates. It was a memorable experience.
Which player/team was your toughest opponent and why? Our toughest opponent in high school is when we play Eastlake (High) because they are our rival.
What areas are you interested in future occupations and why? I am interested in the medical field because I want to help people and it is hands on.
Can you talk about your decision to commit to South Florida? I committed to South Florida because of the softball program and high academic standards. It is close to home and both of my siblings went there. The atmosphere felt like home and the coaches are top shelf. I am excited to work with a former Olympic coach and assistant coach, who has coached several programs.
Who is your sports hero and why? My dad because he taught me almost everything I know today. I wouldn’t be here without him and he will always be my biggest supporter!
What’s the best hype song and why? “Cruise” by Florida Georgia Line. It is also my high school walk-up song.
What’s your favorite TV show to binge and why? “Grey’s Anatomy.” I like to watch the clinical storylines and how unpredictable life can be.
Do you have a secret talent/skill? I drive a manual 6-speed Jeep.
