Throwback Thursday: National Freshman of the Year Finalist Jazmyn Rollin’s Big Summer of ’18

Two years ago this summer not many people nationally in club softball had heard about current Missouri freshman shortstop Jazmyn Rollin.

That changed dramatically, however, when she made a huge national splash at the 2017 PGF 16U Platinum Nationals as she helped the Firecrackers UT team coached by her father, Fred Rollin win the championship.

Last summer, the excellent all-around athlete played for the Explosion – Denio/Jackson team and was selected as a PGF All-American and a member of the Louisville Slugger Hit Club.

As our article from June of 2018 explained, Jazmyn jumped right into school at Mizzou and has made a big impact in her freshman year as she was named as one of 25 finalists for the 2019 Schutt / NFCA Div. I National Freshman of the Year award.

One of the top freshmen in the SEC, Jazmyn is second on the Tigers with a .360 batting average and seven home runs and tied for second with 29 RBI and 13 steals heading into this weekend’s action.

Here’s a look back at this great talent from Salt Lake City, Utah…

Jazmyn is an Elite 100 player in the 2018 class because of her skills on offense and defense.

On Friday, we presented a video interview of Jazmyn Rollin of Explosion – Denio/Jackson after she cracked a tape-measure home run at the So Cal A’s Invitational that showed how the Salt Lake City resident has all the physical tools to dominate at this level and even the next.

Today, we talk about the past, present and future and how she’s worked with her dad, Fred Rollin, to be a promising player who can make a strong impact in the SEC after she finished her prep career winning titles at the high school club levels….

14 Questions with Jazmyn:

You finished your high school career and immediately jumped into college life… how has that gone?
High school ended June 6th but I didn’t attend the last few days of school nor did I walk in graduation as I decided to take advantage of the amazing opportunity of summer classes at Mizzou to get me a little bit ahead, allowing myself to not have as much of the pressure it is to be a student-athlete for U of M. I’m really happy to have started a new chapter in my life.
