Leadoff batter Abdullah lit the spark in the bottom of the 3rd with a single through the infield followed by Boulware who pressured the Peru defense with a bunt-single that allowed Abdullah to advance to third. Staats then sent a deep sac-fly to left field to plate one before South cleared the bases with a two-run home run, putting the U.S. on top 5-0.
Team USA used a pair of leadoff singles from Armendariz and Hernandez to jump start the bottom of the 4th followed by a fielding miscue, a double from Boulware and a single from Otto to score three.
