As the summer season concluded and the fall recruiting period began, Extra Inning Softball’s Voices From the Field series in August offered valuable insights from some of the sport’s most respected figures. This month featured a lineup of accomplished coaches and players who shared their expertise on various aspects of the game, providing essential guidance for the next generation of softball talent.

Kelly Horne: Assistant Coach at South Alabama

Kelly Horne, Assistant Coach at South Alabama, provided critical advice for the Class of 2026 as September 1 approached—a key date marking the start of direct contact between college coaches and high school juniors. Horne emphasized the importance of preparation and staying true to one’s goals during the recruiting process.
