Breaking News: Top 2021 Extra Elite 100 Infielder Kinsey Fiedler Headed to Washington

Kinsey Fiedler, a Top 5 prospect in the 2021 Extra Elite 100, committed today to Washington. She is pictured here on her visit to the school the weekend of Nov. 2, 2019.

Extra Inning Softball has learned that one of the Top 10 players in the 2021 Extra Elite 100 has committed to the University of Washington.

Kinsey Fiedler from Lee’s Summit, Missouri told Extra Inning Softball this afternoon:

“I Facetimed the coaches and told them my decision about an hour and a half ago.”

She took her official visit to Washington the weekend of November 2.

“The community of awesome people that (Coach Heather) Tarr has established is really a testimony to her excellent coaching. Since I’ll be over 1,500 miles away from home I really needed to feel part of the family. There is no doubt in my mind that those girls are my sisters. I committed about an hour ago actually (6:15 pm EST).”

She had originally committed to Missouri but was heavily recruited once the Sept. 1, 2019 contact period started and could have gone to almost any major program in the nation.

The junior infielder plays for Ryan Taylor’s Aces Fastpitch 18U team and has been very impressive over the last year. She will be joining another top infielder in the Class of 2021 in Rylee Holtorf, a talented third baseman who plays for Arizona Storm.

Below is a profile we did on Kinsey, who is as impressive in an interview and off the field as she is fluid and athletic on it…

Kinsey Fiedler celebrates a win for Lee’s Summit North high school as a freshman in 2018.

In a class loaded with excellent middle infielders, one of the very best is Kinsey Fiedler from Missouri who not only is one of the best high school sophomores in the nation, she’s one of the best overall players in any age division.

A member of our 2021 Extra Elite 100–and a Top 10 honoree at that–Kinsey does it all on the field and off: she earned All-State honors as a freshman, carries a 4.0 GPA and even made All-District as a violinist in her school’s orchestra!

Several top coaches we spoke with predict Kinsey will be a college All-American in a few years, but first she has some other business to attend to… like overcoming her fear of zombies (read on… you’ll see what we mean!).

And the well-balanced student-athlete even says she has “sick dance moves”… what can’t this girl do?!?

Coach’s Comments: “Kinsey is turning into the best kid to come through our program.  She will be an All-American.  As impressive as her numbers are offensively, she shines at shortstop as her ability to read the ball off the bat and use her athleticism to get to the ball are unrivaled. Several high-level programs said she could step in and make an impact for them immediately.  Kinsey’s leadership qualities and willingness to learn and challenge her game make her possibilities endless.” — Ryan Taylor, head of the Aces Fastpitch organization

What does it mean to you to be considered as one of the top 100 players in your class?
It’s an honor just to be considered for such an amazing group of talented young ladies. Makes me so thankful for my coaches, parents, and teammates who follow me throughout my journey. They are the reason why I love this sport.

Looking back on your career so far, both club and high school, what’s been your favorite experience (or experiences) both in softball and off the field?
My favorite on field experience was finishing in the Top 5 at PGF last summer and beating the Hotshots and Tampa Mustangs. The best part of the whole trip though was when the team would stay really late at the beach and have a bonfire together.

Kinsey says one of the reasons she loves softball is she and her teammates make it fun.

What would you say are your strengths on the field?
I try to be very vocal on the field and be a great teammate. Any of the Aces coaches or even college coaches would probably say that our dugout is always having fun, dancing, and cheering on our team. I always try to contribute to that atmosphere because in the end softball should be fun at all times.

Have you set personal goals for yourself for this year?
I don’t want to jinx myself by talking about numbers, so I really am just focusing about putting in a ton of work in the off-season and hopefully the numbers this summer show that.

Do you have any softball superstitions?
I am very superstitious. I always wear two pairs of socks, have to wear a visor, I am the first one to touch the ball when we go out to defense and the last one to touch it after three outs, I’ve even gone so far as to “spit shake” with a teammate after we vowed to get a hit our next at-bat (it worked).

What would you say is your philosophy in life?
I want to be that person that enjoys every day in their life. Whether that means loving my job, family, etc. I’m so thankful for all the opportunities given to me and I’m going to make the most of everything that life throws at me.
