This just in… Sunday is Father’s Day… and are any of you softball players and coaches looking for a cool way to honor YOUR Dad (or your favorite father figure)?

We got you covered: email me at [email protected] a paragraph or two and a photo if you have one and we may run it in a tribute article which will mean the WORLD to him!

We’ll do a nice tribute article on Sunday like we’ve done in previous years…just be sure to include the following:

  • your name
  • your father’s (or father figure’s) name
  • his relationship to you (i.e. father, step-father, grandfather, coach, etc.)
  • grad year (if you’re a player)
  • team name
  • your city & state

The deadline to have the info in is Sunday, June 21 at 11 am EST / 8 am PST!

If you’re looking for some examples of how to do it, look at our Father’s Day Tribute from previous years…

Players Express Their Love & Appreciation in Our Special Father’s Day Tribute (2020)

Ashley Wolfe and her father Eric

Happy Father’s Day to my dad. Today I celebrate him, as every day since I was 7, he has willing done EVERYTHING for me, my dreams, and showing/teaching me how to be a better person, by working for those dreams. He’s my role model, giving of himself before himself. Always makes time to not only help me with the game I fell in love with, but others who ask him for advice.

My dad is the reason I play at the highest level, he’s my biggest supporter, but also my biggest critic!! Whenever I ask to go hit or take infield practice, whatever he’s doing stops and we go. We have traveled all over the country and I love all the memories that we’ve made together.

All the talks we’ve had, softball, school, or just life is what makes my Dad so incredibly amazing to me! If I end up half the person my dad is, then I’ll have turned out pretty good. I love you daddy!! Ashley #4

Alexis Milanoswki and her father Ted

I love my dad more than words could ever describe. He is my friend, dad, and coach all in one. He pushes me over my limits and gets the best out of me with everything I do. He has coached me ever since I have started playing softball. He even volunteers his time as the assistant softball coach at my school, which I know isn’t easy having to leave work.

He has missed out on numerous exotic trips so that way he could coach and be at my games. He listens to my endless car concerts even though they are terrible, and he has taught me how to drive in two weeks. He takes time out of his day every day to help me get better at the sport I love. He makes me laugh when I am sad. He makes me fight when I am tired. He truly is the world’s greatest dad. I wish him the very best Father’ Day.

I love you dad.

My dad has spent countless hours with me at the field, in the cages and traveling for tournaments. We’ve celebrated the good and fought through the adversity together and I wouldn’t trade those memories for the world. He pushes me the hardest whenever I need it the most. I

would not want to have pregame/post game talks with anybody else. I always hear his voice when I am at the plate, no matter how many people are cheering. My dad is my biggest fan, and he will always be the person I look up to the most in life.

I would not even be close to the person or the athlete I am today without him. Happy Father’s Day to my dad, and to his dad, my Papa, who we know is always watching down over us.

Without my dad, everything I have accomplished would not have been possible. He was my biggest supporter through all the ups and downs of games, practices and lessons. I told him I had a dream at 8 years old of playing softball for the University of Notre Dame and together we made that dream come true.

My dad, as the head of the Intensity organization, is responsible for making countless dreams of his players come true of playing competitive college softball. He gives his everything to each player day in and day out so they can fulfill their dreams and have the same amazing opportunities I did. He never missed a game in my playing career (he is an honorary ND alumni we joke). After every game, I would point to him in the stands and that would signal that ‘We Did It.’

Words can’t describe how wonderful my dad is in all he does for not only our family, but every family within the Intensity organization. I’m so proud to be his daughter! Love you Dad xoxo.

Players Express Their Love & Appreciation in A “Father’s Day Tribute” (2019)

Originally published June 16, 2019 on Extra Inning Softball

To see who our very cute baby is (was!) and her father, scroll down below…

It’s Father’s Day and nothing pleases most “softball dads” than to see their daughters out competing on the softball fields!

Be they coaches, chauffeurs, therapists, loving listeners or all of the above, fathers (or “father figures”) can play such an important role in a young person’s life and we take time to honor them today.

After the poignant player tributes to their moms/mother figures for Mother’s Day, we provide the opportunity for athletes nationwide to do the same today for Father’s Day… enjoy!

Our dad is our Number 1 fan.

He puts endless hours in to help us succeed at the sport we love. After working both his jobs he still finds the time to take us to all our lessons and work with us at the park multiple times a week.

If it wasn’t for our dad, we wouldn’t be where we are today. He supports us when we have bad games and encourages us to keep working.

An example of this is a few weeks ago I struggled at my pitching lesson. I couldn’t throw a strike. I was very upset leaving my lesson and he didn’t want me to end my night that way.

He pulled his truck to the side of the road and made me get out and pitch until I ended on a positive note. It was pitch black outside and he couldn’t even see the ball.

This shows the type of father he is and how he supports us. We love our dad so much and appreciate everything he does for us.

My dad is a police officer and for 14 years while my two older brothers and I were growing up, he worked midnights so that we didn’t have to go to daycare and as he says he “didn’t want miss our lives “ as we were growing up.

Megan Schumacher and her father Bob, a few years ago…

Midnights was the only steady shift in his department and if he didn’t work midnights he would have had to rotate between evenings and days.

My Dad often went without sleep so that he could care for me and my brothers, coach football, come to our games or, even when I was young, go to my dance recitals, gymnastics, soccer and every other activity we played.

… and how they look today!

My dad is my biggest fan and often worked extra hours (and still does) so that I can play softball, pay for training and pitching lessons and so my mom can travel and watch me play.

We still laugh about the one time he caught for me when I was 11 and he fell off the bucket (so I always had my mom catch after that! ) but he has always had my back and if it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t be who or where I am today.

I love you Dad. Thank you for being you and all you do for us!!!

I have two very special people in my life that have shaped me into the person and player I am today. Those people are my father, Joe Baptista and my father-figure and coach, Dave Lotti.

Kayla Baptista with Coach Dave Lotti.

My dad has been by my side with softball since playing tee ball in the yard when I was 4 to traveling all over the country now, 13 years later. Thank you for sacrificing so much so I am able to compete in the game we both love. I wouldn’t want pre-game/after game talks and to travel the country with anyone else! I love you!

Coach Dave has been a major father-figure throughout my softball career. He has completely inspired me to be the player I am today. He pushes me harder than I could ever imagine myself doing and helps me chase my dreams. He truly cares for me like his own daughter just as he does for everyone else on the team. Since he took me on his 18U team as a little 8th grader to now as rising senior in high school, I cannot think of a father-figure more special than Dave.

To the kings of tough-love, you both mean so much to me.

I love you guys, Happy Father’s Day!

Chyanne Ellett with her father Chris

From the fist bumps before every game, to the celebratory hugs after a big win, my dad has always been there.

Not only is he my father, but he is my coach, my Number 1 supporter, my role model, and the person who constantly reminds me that I can achieve anything I put all of my heart and mind into.

He has pushed me to be everything I am today, not only in softball but life all together. I will never be able to fully express how grateful I am.

I love you.
