Tomorrow, Sunday May 12, 2019, is Mother's Day and we hope everyone will do something special to honor the mother or mother-figure in his or her life.
We're kicking off this special weekend (and, yes, we will have softball coverage too!) with a look back at some of the special tributes we had last year from athletes to their mom's.
Join us tomorrow for this year's heart-felt messages...
Players Express Their Love In A Special “Mother’s Day Tribute”
originally posted on Extra Inning Softball on May 12, 2018
Today we honor all those Mothers out there (or Step-Moms, Grandmothers, Big Sis’s or other Mother Figure-role models) who have such an impact in a young softball players life.
There’s a unique bond that develops when a mom dedicates so much time, energy, effort and, yes, love, to make sure her daughter’s needs are meet, her self-esteem enhanced and her talents and confidence developed.
We’re happy to take some time today to let a few mothers know how much their daughters love and appreciate them, which—though specific and particular in their own cases—is also surely representative of how hundreds of thousands of daughters feel—softball players or not—about that special person in their life.
Thanks to all those who contributed submissions... here are a dozen and a half representative tributes from young ladies to their moms… and we salute both sides for a job well done!
My mom has been through EVERY single obstacle with me my entire life.
My mom has stood by my side and is the only one who has had faith in me since the beginning.
She believed in me when no one else did—this woman is my biggest fan, my toughest critic, and motivates me to be the best person I can be. I know when things get tough she will be by my side and will always have my back.
Anytime I have anything to do whether a softball game, a school meeting, or a birthday party, she is always there.
She has showed me unconditional love and for this I can’t put it into words how much I appreciate you.
Thank you for all that you do mom… I love you.
Britton Rogers to her mother, Courtney
2020, Georgia Firecrackers – Sewell
I cannot express how blessed that my family is for our mother.
While people think that my father, Addison, is organized, we all know that my mother is behind all actions!
My Mom has helped me become the young lady that I am today on and off the field.
Also she has attended every pitching lesson (and is my catcher), since I was six-years-old.
She is an amazing woman and I can only hope to be half the person that she is for me and my family.
Happy Mother’s Day Mom! I love you!”

My Mom means a lot to me because she makes me feel like I’m the most important person in the world. She takes good care of me.
I love her because she loves me unconditionally. She inspires me to be the best I can be every day and to have a positive attitude. Her actions teach me to never give up and show love for everybody, no matter who they are.
Happy Mother’s Day, Mommah!! I love you to Jesus and back!

On Mother's Day I want to celebrate all the Mothers who raise their daughters to be strong, especially my Mom.
I was raised to not only be strong, but be strong as a woman. The reality that females are as strong as any man and can accomplish anything they work for in life was taught to me by watching my Mom.
There is hardly a day that goes by where I do not get a quote or text from her that inspires me every day, to be the best softball player, student, and person I can be.
Strength is just one of the hundreds of valuable lessons she has taught me over the years.
Thank you Mom for always leading by example in who I strive to be. I hope to use all you have taught me in life and someday be half the woman you are.

Since I was nine-years old and started softball my mom has supported me 100 percent.
From washing uniforms to serving as my cheerleader, team mom, team cook, water girl and bus driver, she does it all with a smile on her face.
She has put what’s important to her second, so I can live out this dream of playing softball.
Happy Mother’s Day to my #1 fan… I love you!

Happy Mother’s Day Mom!
My mom is awesome! My mom spends every second she is not taking care of others at the hospital, to plan her work schedule so she can come watch me play.
Last year on Mother’s Day, she couldn’t be with me and I was only able to send her this picture of me holding a flower for her after the tournament was over.
This year (today) we will be together while I play in the Tarheel Classic.
She is a great mom, so supportive and she teaches me many lessons about hard work and sacrifice.
I’m so glad she can spend this Mother’s Day with me and I’ll know exactly where to find her in your favorite place on the bleachers!
Happy Mother’s Day! I love you!

I have been playing Gold Level travel ball since I was nine-years old and my mom has always been my Momager for me.
She is always there for me on and off the field. She is the nicest, coolest, and most helpful mom in the world!
This coming Mother’s Day I am playing in a PGF Qualifier with my team.
My mom will be spending Mother’s Day at the ballfield, like she has for many years.

My mom means the world to me.
She’s my role model, my best friend, and my rock.
My mom has to play the role for both of my parents since my Dad is in Heaven.
She has shaped me into the best young woman that I can be and she is the true definition of what strength really is.

My mom is important to me because she is always there for me.
She is the most caring person I know and she always finds a way to help people.
She makes me feel special because even after my bad games, she gets me food…
... GREAT food!
My mom also makes me feel confident all the time, no matter the situation.
Kassidy Krupit to her mother, Liz

You mean the world to me, you (were) my catcher when dad wasn’t around to catch me.
You tend to my injures and get me back on that field.
You cheer as loud as you can for me and even fight back when someone says something about me or my team you don’t like (Cinco Ranch game)!
You are there at the end of practice to take me home (even when your car gets very dirty and stinky from me!).
You are my biggest photographer (as seen in the background of the picture).
But most of all, you are my BIGGEST fan!
My next hit is for you mom, love you!!!

My mom means the world to me.
I always think to myself: how did I get so lucky? She is so beautiful, honest, funny, and just a person that everyone wants to be around. Her energy and humor can lighten up a room in seconds.
Although parenting is very difficult, my mom makes it look effortless because to me she isn’t just a mom but she is my best friend.
One of the trillion things my mom has done for me is push me to become who I am as a person and softball player.
From the first day I stepped onto the softball field she made sure that I was having fun and doing what I love.
And ever since that day she has been pushing me constantly and helping me through this long and enjoyable journey to college and beyond.
My mom is my role model and someone I look up to on a daily basis. All day everyday she works to provide for our family and shuttles my sister and I to wherever we need to be. I look forward to seeing her after school because I get to sit in the car with her for an hour on our way to the Firecracker Warehouse in Huntington Beach.
Not only does she take me softball practice and games but she gives me honest feedback that helps me to learn and grow as a pitcher.
One of the main things I cherish about my mom is her ability to tell me things about my performance even if they aren’t what I want to hear.
Whether she knows it or not, I take everything she says to heart and I try to apply it to my life in hopes that someday I will end up being as great of a mom as she is to me.

My mom is super important to me because she is always supportive and helps me do my best on and off the field.
My mom works all the time, day and night and this shows me how much she cares about my family.
I really love and appreciate my mom and what she does for me and our family.

I think I am truly one of the few people that can say their mom is one of their best friends.
One of the things I am most grateful for is the relationship I have with her. She is my confidant through the bad times and the first person I call when I need a friend or advice.
Not only that, but when something good happens she is the first person I want to tell. I can promise if you look through my calls or texts 90 percent of them are conversations I've had with my mom. I don't know where I'd be or what I would do without her.
For our family my mom is the glue that holds us together. I have two other sisters and we all play two sports. All of us are pulled in different directions moving 100 miles an hour and my mom sacrifices a majority (if not all) of her time to make sure we're where we need to be prepared and on time.
I don't know how she does it or is still sane, but I will forever be grateful for what she does for this family to ensure we are all successful and happy.
To my mom:
Thank you for helping mold us into the people we are today by instilling in us the importance of hard work and treating everyone with kindness and respect.
Not just anyone can do the job that you do and even fewer people could possibly do it so well. You're one of the strongest people I know and I hope to be like you when I grow up.
Your dedication to this family is without bounds and we all love you so much. Thank you for everything you have done and continue to do for this family.
