Wells and Pellem worked closely with Extra Inning Softball and 4Flames Athletics to elevate the overall experience, and after recognizing the value this platform provides, they have made a significant investment into the athletes.
All attendees will receive combine rankings and verified metrics at no cost, while Extra Inning Softball will also provide tournament performance rankings for players, free of charge.
Every result—both combine and tournament—will be published publicly on the Extra Inning Softball website, ensuring maximum visibility and access for college coaches and the broader softball community. More details below.
A Tournament Designed for Real Recruiting
This is not a traditional showcase—it is a recruiting-driven system designed to maximize meaningful evaluation and connection. Athletes will train with their target school and an additional team, compete in two seeded pool games, and advance into a single-elimination bracket.
Throughout the event, college coaches remain actively engaged, evaluating athletes in real time while building relationships during practices and games. This structure creates direct interaction between coaches, players, and families, turning every moment into a true recruiting opportunity.

What Every Athlete Receives
A defining feature of this event is the inclusion of three levels of evaluation, all provided free of cost to every athlete attending:
- Combine Metrics – Verified athletic testing data
- Combine Rankings – Rankings based on performance
- Tournament Performance Rankings – Rankings based on in-game production at this specific event
Rankings are event-specific, ensuring athletes are evaluated strictly against peers competing in the same environment.
Combining metrics, testing-based rankings, and game performance rankings creates a complete player profile that is far more valuable to college coaches.
Direct Access to College Coaches
The event is designed to eliminate barriers between athletes and recruiters.
Participants will have the opportunity to:
- Communicate directly with college coaches
- Build relationships throughout the weekend
- Receive immediate feedback in a live setting
This level of accessibility is rare—and it is where recruiting momentum is created.

Event Credibility and Registration Timeline
The Summer Showcase Showdown continues to build credibility with three successful events already completed and rapid growth fueled by strong coach engagement and proven athlete results.
With leadership from Wells and Pellem, and backing from Level Up Sports, the event has quickly established itself as a trusted platform. Level Up Sports subscribers will receive early access to registration beginning April 22, with registration opening to the public on May 1. View here 🥎
