Mississippi State Legend

From 2001–2004, McMichael became a household name in college softball as a force for Mississippi State University. Her offensive numbers were jaw-dropping:

  • Career batting average: .381, including an astounding .475 average her senior year.
  • Reached base over 75% of the time thanks to her keen eye at the plate.
  • Crushed 37 home runs and drove in 182 RBIs.
  • Blazing speed on the basepaths, swiping 41 stolen bases in her final season.

Her consistency and dominance made her a three-time All-American and a four-time All-Conference selection. In 2003 and 2004, she made history as the first-ever SEC Player of the Year, earning the honor in back-to-back seasons. She also ranked among the NCAA Division I’s top 15 all-time in career triples, proving she was as versatile as she was powerful.

Her excellence wasn’t limited to the field. McMichael was also an Academic All-American, and later was recognized as an All-Time SEC Great, representing Mississippi State among its most legendary female athletes.

In 2024, her legacy reached another historic milestone when she was inducted into the Hall of Fame, becoming the first-ever Black softball player to receive the honor.

  • 2005 NPF Player of the Year.
  • Championship hero, delivering the game-winning home run in the title game.
  • NPF All-Star Game MVP that same season.

Her combination of power, speed, and clutch performance cemented her place as one of the most impactful players in league history.
