Here are details on the new additions which will see a second date in Oregon and games versus Oregon State and Portland State and a new one in Missouri…

Shreveport, Louisiana

Just this afternoon, USA Softball announce the addition of Shreveport, Louisiana to the list of hosting cities for the “Stand Beside Her” tour with an exhibition doubleheader set for April 15.

Aubree Munro

“It’s exciting that the game gets to take us to so many new places and Shreveport is a new one for me,” said 2020 WNT member, Aubree Munro. “The South has become home for me so I’m excited to see new faces supporting USA Softball!”

Both games will be played at Cargill Park (2800 Cargill Dr., Shreveport, La., 71108) with Team USA taking on a pair of NCAA Softball Division I programs. Up first, a 5:30 p.m. matchup against Louisiana Tech followed by a contest against Louisiana-Monroe approximately 35 minutes after the conclusion of game one.

Tickets for the event are limited and can be purchased online at https://shreveportbossiersports.com/ with home plate premium seating tickets available for $30, foul line general admission tickets for $25, outfield general admission for $20 and outfield grass seating for $10. Groups of 10-or-more can purchase discounted outfield general admission tickets for $15 per ticket.

“Louisiana Tech is so excited to be a part of this opportunity to showcase our program and our university on the same stage with the National Team,” said Louisiana Tech Head Coach, Maria Winn-Ratliff. “This will give our players an opportunity to play against the best of the best in the world; players they have grown up following and idolizing in many respects. Louisiana Tech has a large alumni base in the Shreveport/Bossier City area, and this will give us a chance to play in front of a lot of our fans who may not otherwise see us play. It will be a great stage for the game of softball in north Louisiana, and we are thrilled to be a part of it.”

“Our team works extremely hard. Every time we practice, there are new goals set to improve our skills,” said Louisiana-Monroe Head Coach, Molly Fichtner. “It was rewarding to receive the news about the USA Softball Team, but it was most rewarding to see the Warhawks’ gloves fly in the air as they celebrated this amazing opportunity. This will be talked about for decades, but our team will remember this for the rest of their lives. A huge thanks goes to all the partners who had a hand in making this dream a reality for my players.”

Hillsboro, Oregon

The “Stand Beside Her” tour will bring the 2020 USA Softball Women’s National Team (WNT) to Hillsboro, Oregon for a pair of exhibition games on March 17 at Ron Tonkin Field (4460 NE Century Blvd, Hillsboro, Ore. 97124).

Fans will have the opportunity to watch the Red, White and Blue compete against a pair of NCAA Division I softball programs, Portland State University and Oregon State University. Up first in the doubleheader is a 5 p.m. PT contest against the Portland State Vikings and roughly 35 minutes after the conclusion of game one Team USA will take on the Oregon State Beavers, who will be led by 2020 WNT Assistant Coach Laura Berg (Corvallis, Ore./Head Coach at Oregon State).

Hillsboro joins the list of cities on the tour that will host Team USA as they look to capture the Gold Medal in Tokyo when the sport of softball returns to the Olympic program for the first time since 2008.

I remember playing Oregon State as a student-athlete at UCLA and I know it will be a great environment for our tour stop. We can’t wait to say ‘Hi’ in Hillsboro and prepare for the Tokyo 2020 Games.”

“We are excited to play the Women’s National Team in March,” said Berg. “I’m looking forward to having my team watch how the professionals carry themselves. It is going to be a great experience for my players and my staff!”

“We are honored to be a part of this once in a lifetime opportunity,” said Portland State Head Coach, Meadow McWhorter. “Our student-athletes are grateful to be a stop on our USA Olympic Softball Team’s journey to earn gold in Tokyo. This is an incredible event for our Portland/Hillsboro softball community, and we couldn’t be more excited!”
