National Club Team of the Week: Impact Gold National 14U – Mendoza

To the victors go the trophy and rings!

* It didn’t come easy for Daven Mendoza’s Impact Gold National 08 (14U) team as the team took a tough loss on Friday morning and had to then battle through the loser’s bracket and eventually double dip Top Gun 07 to win the USA Elite Select World Fastpitch Championship in Kansas City, Kansas.

But the team did it to pull off a 12-1 record at the championship to take home the trophy.

IG National had their work cut out for them needing to win seven 7-inning ball games to claim the title of champion and Championship Saturday was set up to be a gauntlet.

The first test of the day would be Iowa Premier National James 14u who the team had beaten 10-5 to set up a rematch with Kentucky Chrome 08 14u who they put in the loser’s bracket earlier in the tournament. After a hard-fought battle with KY Chrome, Impact Gold came out on top 10-7.

The next game in the semifinals would be against Aces Fastpitch 07 and would be considered one of the toughest of the day.

After trialing 1-2 in the top of the 7th inning, Clarissa Mejia (C, 2026) started us off with a double to right before Lexie Ramirez (P/MIF, 2026) singled her in to tie the game and eventually send the IG National team to ITB.

In the 8th inning, the Impact took advantage of some opportunities and open the flood gates to give a commanding lead of 5-3 to send the team to the championship to face the undefeated Top Gun 07 14u team.

Said Coach Mendoza: “Momentum, heart, and determination led us to this point and our girls were not going to be denied. Heading into our fourth 7 inning game in a row in a 100 degree heat, our girls came out and were in control of the game from start to finish.

The team is all smiles after winning the title.

Emma Escamilla (P, 2027) dominated in the circle allowing four hits with two strikeouts in seven innings of shutout softball to give us a 6-0 win and send us to the IF game. I

n the final game, Emma Escamilla wanted the ball again to continue her dominance of a well hitting offensive team. She singled handedly slowed their offense and only gave up 1 run in four innings leading us to an 11-1 eventual run rule to win in all!

  • Tournament MVP – Addison Davis (3B, 2026) Avg .583, 21H, 16 Singles, 4 Doubles, 4 SB, 14 Runs Scored, 14RBI
  • Defensive MVP – Emma Escamilla (P, 2027) IP 37, 27 Ks, BAA . 203, 26 runners LOB, 1 run allowed in final 11 innings in the championship
