Extra Inning Softball’s National High School Player of the Week

* Graciela Dominguez, a 2023 grad and shortstop who is committed to Princeton, had a huge week for her James Madison High team in Vienna, Virginia.
In the state playoffs, she went 9-for-12 including a stellar Regional Championship game performance where she batted 4-for-5 with a home run, two doubles and a single while collecting four RBIs.
Getting sizzling hot at the peak time, Graciela batted .750 in the Regional playoffs with a .722 average in five playoff games and had a .559 batting average for the 2022 season.
When asked today by Extra Inning Softball what the memory or highlight that will stand out from this amazing season for her, Graciela pointed to the Regionals because, as she explains, many didn’t think they’d be able to win it all.
“We lost one of our key seniors due to an injury,” the future Ivy Leaguer answered, “and most people counted us out, but our team rallied together and played our best ball at the right time.”
Although she has a lot of softball left to play for James Madison High, Graciela admits she can’t help but be excited about her future at Princeton University, which is about 200 miles or a three-hour drive away.
“It’s a dream come true to play Division 1 softball at one of the top academic schools in the world!” she says.
Excited to announce my commitment to the admissions process at Princeton University to further my academic & athletic career! I’m grateful to my parents & coaches who’ve invested so much in me. Thank you @CoachSween @CoachMurrr @CoachDavis1321 for this opportunity. Go Tigers!🐅🧡 pic.twitter.com/0XJs4SvyT0

First, though, she has a very busy summer schedule right in front of her and her Georgia Impact – Caymol team as her travel ball squad will be at major tournaments such as Thunderbolts 5-Star, Scenic City, Triple Crown Fireforks, Atlanta Legacy, TC Southeast Nationals and PGF Nationals.
“I’ll also be playing with the Team Dominican Republic All-Stars too,” Graciela adds.

Runner-Up National Players of the Week
* Follow-up to our National Player of the Week last week… Macee Eaton, the talented power-hitting junior from Wheelersburg, Ohio, led her Pirates team to the DIII state title after her two opponents showed her the ultimate respect by intentionally walking her twice in both first at-bats in each playoff game.
Still, with Wheelersburg High leading prior to her 3rd and 4th at-bats in the two playoff games, the strategy dictated she be pitched to and Macee made both opponents pay for having to give her anything to hit.
In the semifinal game, the Virginia commit ripped a double off the right fielder’s shin to score a run from first and in her final at-bat in the championship game she hit her 20th home run of the season – straight away to center field – and her ninth during her team’s tournament run
Here are clips of the nine home runs during the playoff march to the state trophy:
Overall for the 2022 season, Macee helped her team go 27-1 by batting .610 with the 20 homers on 50 hits total and 56 RBIs.
She also had 26 walks versus zero strikeouts this year.
