Extra Inning Softball’s National High School Player of the Week
Chelsea is not only a threat to get on base, she’s a tremendous base stealer (21-for-21 this year).

*  Chelsea Mack, the outstanding senior centerfielder at Brecksville (Ohio) High, continues to show why she was ranked as a Top 20 player in the 2022 Extra Elite 100.

The Kentucky-bound speedster helped her team go 4-0 last week and continues to roll up impressive numbers as she went 10-for-12 at the plate with three doubles and a home run. Additionally, she walked three times—one of them intentionally—and compiled a .867 on-base percentage while driving in seven RBIs and scoring 10 runs herself.

Chelsea added seven steals and produced a 1.333 slugging percentage.

The 2022 grad says that she has worked on getting stronger physically and that she’s also focused on improving the mental side of her game.

“I’m have a lot more confidence that I can do anything as I have gotten better with my choices in having a plan at the plate and reading the defense,” she explains. “Instead of just slapping one at-bat or bunting or hitting in another, I have been adjusting between at-bats and within my at-bat and even sometimes as the ball is being pitched. I have felt much more confident in using all my offensive tools.”

For the season, the younger sister of former Alabama All-SEC honoree Alexis Mack is hitting an amazing .821 (23-for-28) and is one of the rare cases where a sac fly actually decreased her on-base percentage which is at .818. Other impressive stats: Chelsea is 21-for-21 in steals and has only struck out once this year. She is also flawless in the field with no errors.

It’s not hard to pinpoint what has been a highlight of her team’s young season so far.

“The three-run home run I hit on Saturday helped our team with a come-from-behind win was a great moment,” Chelsea responded when asked what’s moment stands out in the season.

“It wasn’t necessarily the hit itself but more the way my entire team made me feel afterward was what truly made it stand out for me,” she added. “Our starting pitcher Anna Wise came over and gave me the biggest hug and that’s all I could ask for.  I really love to play for my teammates.”
